Situated at the highest location of the vast Greenland ice sheet at an altitude of 3,000+ m above sea level the year-round Summit research station is operated by VECO Polar Resources under funding from the US National Science Foundation.

Projects dealing with glaciology, atmospheric sciences and geophysics are accommodated and serviced at this unique and very remote facility.
