Qaanaaq, the town and administrative center of Qaanaaq municipality, is serviced by Air Greenland at the adjacent airport twice weekly with DASH-7 aircraft to and from Kangerlussuaq and Nuuk via Ilulissat.

The hamlets of the municipality are served by an Air Greenland helicopter that is also available for charter on a limited basis.

Pituffik (Thule Air Base) lies as an enclave in Qaanaaq municipality but it has no direct international civilian airline connection. However, military flights connect this air base with the United States. Civilians are allowed onboard military aircraft only in special cases and based upon a written permit from the appropriate authority. More information on options for military airlifts to and from Thule Air Base.
