Dynamics of Small Scale Societies

Arctic marine and terrestrial ecosystems have undergone significant changes over the last 15,000 years. The region has been home to a multitude of small-scale societies practicing diverse economies. They have had to adapt to the dynamic environment as well as to interactions with one another and newcomers. Have small-scale societies found throughout the North adapted to environmental and historical challenges of the region is similar ways? The session will explore social, economic, and political strategies employed by small scale societies.
