Five Post-conference trips

One-day trips

  • 1. Gone Fishing! The trip will take us out into Öresund (the strait between Denmark and Sweden) on an 8-hour trip with the former Greenlandic inspection ship Signe Rink. The emphasis of the trip will be on fishing (herring and cod), having a beer or two, and not the least having a chance to chat with the other conference participants. We’ll finish of the day by making a herring and cod dinner tasting some of the local brew (snaps). The skipper will be one of our own - Jens Fog Jensen.
Price: about 350Dkr. or about 75CAD$ (including lunch, but excluding dinner that hopefully will be a feast on the fish caught during the trip). Maximum number of participants is 15 persons.
    Remember: All-weather out-door clothing. Pay on-line
  • 2. Stone-age people of southern Zealand. This bus tour will among other take us to one of the most spectacular flint outcrop in Scandinavia, some of the most well-preserved Scandinavian Neolithic megalith structures and maybe a diversion to Trelleborg (the magnificent Viking fortification). Our guide will be the multi-talented Mikkel Sørensen from Sila
Price: about 250 Dkr. or about 55CAD$ (including lunch). No maximum number of participants.
    Remember: All-weather out-door clothing. Pay on-line

  • 4. The Real Viking Trail. The of departure will be from the Viking trading site of Selsø, from where we will sail (and row) our way down to the southern end of Roskilde Fiord. After lunch we will continue to the Viking site at Gammel Lejre (by bicycle), after which we’ll be going to Lejre Experimental Centre. The night will be spent in a number of Sami “kåter”. The trip will feature the former head of the Experimental Centre Bjarne Grønnow and Ulla Odgaard. Maximum number of participants is 25 persons.
